Spring Shopping

Kim and I managed a trip to our favorite nursery this week, Edwards Greenhouse. I always look forward to shopping for plants at Edwards. It's an annual (at least) event for us. But this year I felt a bit cheated. It's been annoying to me lately that Kim and I have no days off together anymore. That kind of schedule makes it tricky to get anything done together. We're usually in the mode of, "What did you do today?", after one of us gets home from work. Then we share what we did in the garden, or in the house, or about one of Kim's projects.

This year our shopping trip took place on one of my work days. Since Kim works 12 hour days I can't really expect him to shop on his work day. He's either sleeping or working during his work week. So we headed out to Edwards in the morning as I had to be at work at 1:30 in the afternoon. I was worried we wouldn't have enough time, that I wouldn't get enough of my Edwards 'fix'. Kim reminded me that we didn't have that much money to spend so how long could it take? He was right. We only spent about an hour and it was OK.

Just walking in and seeing all the plants makes me feel optimistic about gardening.

Edwards has many greenhouses, with perennials, annuals, veggies, etc. grouped together.

They had quite a bit of damage done earlier this month by a storm that passed through Boise. There were workers still doing repairs.

This little cottage has been on the property for ages.

Can't you just imagine this bathtub in your garden with you in it? I can.
(OK, so it doesn't look comfy enough, but it is pretty enough and I like the oddity.)

There were, of course, so many, many flowers to view.

Kim moseyed around some tropicals. Or what I assumed were tropicals. More likely they're not.

I wish my nasturtiums would ever look like this.

Our shopping consisted of a few new plants and some fertilizer.

So, I have some things to plant and that's nice.
I'd still like to have some days off together though.

Love that nursery. Edwards is a nice place with so much to pick from. I'd get lost and spend too much money. You got some nice ones too. They all look so green and healthy. I see a hosta. Love em'. Happy gardening... Becca

oooh, I'd love to spend some time in that nursery! I bet I'd be in there longer than an hour! That was record time. Glad you found a way to work in a trip ~ now to figure your schedules out.... That's got to be hard. :-(

Beautiful stuff you ended up with, they make a lovely combination together in the cart. Hope your schedules align properly again soon. I've had that happen with Justin in the past, and I really missed those weekends together.
