Spring Things

I've been neglecting my blog due to some family issues but now I hope I'm back.

Spring certainly seems to have arrived. We've been getting rain, then sunshine, then more rain, then sun; you get the idea. I have my fingers crossed that the birds haven't eaten all the flower seeds I've scattered in the back beds.

The chickens haven't been eating them because we've locked them out of the garden.

They do have a bird block to keep them entertained. We buy ours from D&B.

Jelly Bean gets some sun.

Our seedlings are up and moving. This photo is from a couple of weeks ago.

And we have a few things blooming in the garden.

Hellebores;

And finally some daffodils.

I've tried growing tulips in containers a few years now without success. This year I'm hoping I have the solution. I placed the containers in our shed and Kim watered them about once a month during the winter. I think my past problems have included too much moisture, freezing, squirrels and cats. I placed the containers in our cold frame a few weeks ago and they're looking very nice.

I've always wanted beautiful spring containers like Tatyana's.
Maybe this will be my year.

Victoria I love your header. Is Jelly Bean sunbathing? How cute is that!!! I planted about 200 tulips the first year we moved here and maybe 5 came up. I was just sick and never planted any again for years. Must be critters. Now that I've seen 'Trouble' the squirrel in action I think she's one of the culprits. This year I did a big pot stuffed full of bulbs and we put a screen over it hoping she'll leave it alone. A few were coming up last time I checked but don't the screen is as great idea because they can't get as much sun. Hopefully they'll grow. You're about at the same place as I am with flowers sprouting. I have a Helleborus and some daffodils. Now some Pulmonaria and Brunnera are blooming too. We are higher and about 2 weeks behind everyone below us.

Your hellebores are pretty. I love this time of year when I see the happy daffodils. Your chicken looks funny sunning. The tulips are looking good and healthy - hope you have some blooms. Ya'll have a great day.

We've been regulars at D&B lately, mostly getting stuff to redo the irrigation in our front yard. Gotta love the senior discount on Tuesdays!

The daffodils are finally blooming over here right now. Spring seems to be so slow getting here this year! Your tulips look great! Can't wait to see them flowering- they are one of my favorites. :)

That's quite a large block of birdseed! I bought my first hellebore last year and was anticipating it's bloom this year, but there is no sign of a flower, just foliage. Maybe next year...

Loving that greenhouse. You use the same cell packs that I use(from last years flats).
Is that bird really sunbathing? haha
Pretty pretty Hellebores.
Hope all is well.

I was admiring these photos again and this time noticed the statue of the little girl in your garden....looks very similar to one I have that my son gave me for mother's day MANY years ago. Do you have the little boy as well?

One thing I love about blogs is how long spring lasts as we share our blooms from one zone to another! Love the Hellebore.
