Waiting on Spring

Not a lot going on here, at least garden wise.

Kim and I actually were able to get into the garden and do some work last week as we were blessed with some gorgeous weather.

We saw some alliums coming up.

Along with some crocus.

Then we were given another taste of winter.

I would love to show you a picture of snowdrops blooming but all I have is this:

I'd also love to show you a hellebore bud but all I have is this:

Weather wise we're just a bit behind this year. I'm impatiently waiting for spring.
(Can you tell?)
It's mid day and 35˚F right now. Not what I refer to as optimal gardening weather.

I did manage to do a little garden shopping this week at my favorite nursery - Edward's Greenhouse. Great way to perk up a "starving" gardener; visit a nursery. Just look at the color.

And how can you resist this color combo? I couldn't. I bought all three.

And just one more tease. I don't know what this is and I didn't purchase it but I thought the bloom was lovely.

It's almost time for me to start some seeds. That should help with the winter blues.

What are you doing to survive until spring?

Kim and Victoria,

Your snow drops are ahead of us. But likely our warmer weather will have them out by the weekend. Your right that last flower is really something!

Hi Victoria.
That last photo looks like Scilla peruviana to me. Believe it or not, I had one overwinter here and bloom for me (I planted it without realizing its hardiness zone).
You made some nice purchases. I haven't ordered any seeds or bought any plants yet ~ what's wrong with me???!!!
I also need to get out and do some spring clean up but I'm waiting on warm weather. We had some last week but there was a lot of wind with it so I opted out.
Hang in there ~ spring is coming!!

Edwards! What a find, thanks. I live in Eastern Oregon. I will have to check it out.

I love beautiful penmanship, especially those Chinese and 19th Century American Penmanship (www.geocities.jp/chinese_penmanship/). There was a little sadness to find that we are beginning to lose so much with texting and computers .....who will find THOSE treasures 100 years from now?

Gorgeous pictures! I'm like you, I've got spring fever! This peek-a-boo game is getting to me. One day I see ground and vegetation coming through the ground, and the next I see a white top. Today we got about 3 inches of snow. BTW, I re-launched my garden blog at www.GardenStems.com

I bet the snowdrops are blooming now :) Our garden is definitely behind and if it doesn't warm up soon it's really going to be late. I hope you've seen the last of the snow now so you can get out in your garden.
