Plants and Chickens

Seems as if all the bloggers are posting about which plants are coming up in their gardens.
Such as: A Gardener in Progress, Barbara's Garden Chronicles, Gardening by Trial and Error, Here on the Prairies, Keewee's Garden and Nest Maker to name a few.

Sounded like a good idea to go check out our garden. (I had an ulterior motive as you'll see.)

Here is some growth on an aquilegia.

And my hellebore has some new leaves.

The primroses are showing life.

And some daffodils are getting brave.

While I was photographing the poppies Tootsie decided to get into the act.

(Chickens are very curious.)

Here's another short video of the "girls"; showing both their sweet and their destructive sides.

Did you notice my sleeves in the above photos? My original plan was to entice you, dear readers, with a hint of what I've been knitting lately. (It's another sweater, my second.) But I haven't managed to have Kim take a photo of me in it yet so you'll have to wait for another post to see it and the other items I've been busy working on.

What have you been doing to pass the time this winter?

For a laugh here's another fun animal video courtesy of Here on the Prairies.

The girls are so cute but I have a feeling you're gonna have your hands full during the gardening season with your helpers. LOL Can't wait to see your sweater. To keep busy during the winter I guess would be trying to expand my cardmaking or I guess more like expanding my imagination which seems to be what holds me back.

I'm afraid a photo essay of what's growing in the garden here in Alaska would be rather bleak. I can't say nothing is growing, I just don't want to dig under two feet of snow and find out;) Your primula looks very delectable!

Wow, nice to see green! I haven't inspected my perennial beds, but now you have motivated me to do so.
Your two sweaters look gorgeous...thanks for the preview. :-)
I have been busy with seed orders and some winter sowing. Have some seed started pansies that need potting up. It's good to be nurturing plants again!

WAHHHHH I have NO plants coming up in my garden. I'm so jealous of all you garden bloggers who live in warmer climates. All I can see is the tippy tops of last years dead plants poking outta the snow.

(thanks for the linkage)

Lucky you to have a touch of green starting in your garden.
The only thing growing in my garden is white!
Brrrrrrrr. The glimspe of your sweater is intriguing.
Looking forward to seeing all of it.
I am knitting too and will be posting about it later this week.

I just love hearing and see the girls. They're so cute! I can't believe you already ave growth. We are expecting a bad ice storm today.
Question: Is foxglove poisonous? I love it, but my cat tastes everything, so I wanted to be sure before I purchased any this year.

Oh those girls are so cute! I never get tired of seeing them ~ they make me want my own little brood even more. Glad you're seeing signs of life there Victoria. I wish I had as much going on. I've seen a little bit here and there but we're mostly still covered in snow. boo hoo.
You've made a LOT of progress with the knitting since I last heard from you ~ weren't you just teaching yourself? and now TWO sweaters already? Wow! Great job! They look beautiful. I'll stay tuned to see you modeling them. :-)

Okay Victoria, how do you get your primrose to come back? Please share with your neighbor! Where do you find the time to knit sweater? You are a wonder.

You aren't far behind us here with all that Spring growth. I hope the girls will leave your plants alone, I guess they weren't bothered by the Foxglove? The video of them was really cute.
Looking forward to seeing your sweater. My Mom can knit, but I've never tried.

How exciting! It looks like spring is quickly arriving in Idaho. We've still got a few inches of snow in the ground in Montana. I've got some violas and citrus trees blooming in my solarium though. That's been a nice treat.

I DID notice your sweater sleeves! Can't wait to see the whole thing! I'll have to check if anything has new growth around here, outside. Probably the same things you have. I know I saw that the poppies were still green, which is amazing to me, considering prior to last summer, perennial poppies eluded me. Maybe I've finally hit on the secret of growing them!

Love the pics of the girls! Mine do the same thing when they can see into the snow far enough to know something's down there! Soon enough~

Its really exciting to see new green lives coming up with a new era. I think the nature giving something if we give it. Natural beauty has its own spell with us because it leads to a longer life period.
