Not much going on today. It's been a nice, rainy, lazy day. We did have some visitors to our pond this afternoon.

They left when I went outside to take these pictures. It's just as well. Our pond is too small for them. And Scarface would give them quite the scare. He harrasses this guy plenty as it is...

But Scarface should proceed with caution, 'cause the silent type can be the most deadly...This frog has overwintered in our pond for two or three years now. We've seen him eat a couple of birds. He actually jumps up out of the water and snatches them in the air. Amazing. We thought we were keeping him to eat bugs.

We took Chelsea for a walk this afternoon...

This little neighborhood tough came out to give us the "what for"...isn't she adorable?

Anyone else tired of this color for a house exterior? I know I am.

Kim and I will be trading cars with our daughter next week. She's tired of making a car payment, what with working two jobs and going to college. So we agreed to give her our car, which, by the way, both our children have wrecked. In the driveway. By pulling it out of the garage and into our truck. Amazing. Teenagers and cars just don't mix.

We'll take over payments on her car, which we've always liked anyway, so it should be fine.

The two Tuscawilla Tigress Daylilies I ordered from Oakes Daylilies
arrived today. I've saved a spot for them near the stream. Kim loved this bright orange daylily when we saw it in someone's yard last year. I'll probably plant them this week. I've always had good luck ordering from Oakes.

and finally, my Niobe clematis I've kept in a pot near our front door for about four years now is blooming as it does every year. It's been a great plant.

I am wondering if you could give me tips on growing a clematiss? I have tried but not had much luck. Having teenagers I do agree that cars and kids don't get along too good. At least our daughter stayed with denting things. Our son took it one step further, he not only did dents but didn't add oil when questioned. Yep, engine lock up. Car was fixed at this expense and the kids managed to drive it awhile longer. I imagine that frogs will eat a lot of bugs, I have never seen any take out a bird though. How big is the frog? We had a frog by our pond in the mouth of two snakes. Yes, you read right. One snake had the frog by the head and another had him by the legs. I yelled for help for my husband to help save the frog. The snakes were taken care of and the frog did survive. He had a little trauma and sat by the edge of the pond quite awhile before deciding to go to another area. Cute ducks, will they be back? How big is your pond? One more question I too am a Buckeye from Toledo, OH. Where in Ohio is Kim from?

Clematis took us a while to grow well also. Lots of water, and shading on their roots (plant something underneath them). Keep trying, they're worth it.
The frog in our pond is about palm size. Not too big, I think. Our pond is about 6 ft by 16 ft. Not too large. Too small for ducks. We would welcome ducks (except for Scarface), but ducks cause sickness in our koi. Kim was born in Newark, Ohio. Our frog has overwintered in our pond for three years now. We kept a turtle for two years but she eventually died, and we haven't yet tried another.
Oh my, teenagers and cars!

This is a great picture of your frog! My parents have a pond, but for some reasons we mainly got toads. One year I remember I tiny brown frog who just stayed there for that one season though.
