Desert Colors

Even though it's October there is still some color to be seen in the desert which surrounds our city.

If it weren't for the Boise River there wouldn't be anything green here at all. Boise is known as the City of Trees, but thanks must go to the river for that title.

The name Boise is supposed to have come from Frenchmen, who, when they saw our little valley, said, "Les bois, les bois." (The trees, the trees). I guess they must have been so excited to see anything but sagebrush after a long trek across southern Idaho. Lucky for us, the desert can be very beautiful at times, with canyons and such. And the pine tree covered mountains are just an hour away from downtown Boise.

By the way, Boise is pronounced Boy-see, NOT Boy-zee as is so often heard coming from out-of-towners.

I ache when I see pics of mountains. We have one hill in our entire county. That last picture is awesome. What I wouldn't do to see some dang hills or mountains again! The Tehachapi Mountains not so far from Bakersfield, CA ruined me. I miss them so much.

Tree Drawing analysis is just like handwriting analysis but not nearly as in depth. I require a scanned or actual copy of your drawn tree. I prefer an actual copy, but most people don't want to bother. I don't need a return adress for it though, and I have a PO Box, so it's no problem for me.

Here is what I require for the tree. It needs to be drawn with pen, pencil, or crayons. Not markers. Not coloring pencils. It needs to be drawn on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of typing paper. It doesn't need to fill up the sheet, but it's what I offer my "artists" and it gives me a baseline. Long story, but it works for me. The tree needs to be drawn from the mind's eye, not copied from a book, an actual tree, or some other actual source. It's not about art. I want Your tree. It doesn't matter if it takes 30 seconds or 15 minutes to draw it, however, I do cut people off after 15 minutes. If 15 minutes have passed and you are still drawing, stop, and send me what you've got. I need to know the age of the artist and how long it took them to draw the tree. I don't need to know gender or even names. It is important that the artist was taught a language that is written from left to right. I cannot read trees or handwriting of someone who originally learned right to left writing.

Love the pictures. I really appreciate getting to see places and things I've never seen. Thank you.
