A Great Read

I recently bought this great gardening book;

"Grocery Gardening" is full of info for growing your own veggies, purchasing produce at the store, preserving your homegrown food and it includes great recipes, too.

Last night I made the Asparagus and Goat Cheese Tart from page 150. Delicious!

Thanks to the nutrition info included in the book I now know that one cup of asparagus provides 70% of my daily needs for vitamin K, which is essential for healthy bones!

The book includes all sorts of little gems of knowledge.

Here are two pages from the section on lettuce;

Notice that photo of gorgeous lettuce? The variety is 'Forellenschluss'. How do I know this? See the name at the bottom of the book cover......."and Teresa O'Connor".

Teresa is one of my blogging buddies. She visited our garden last year and we visited hers.

I highly recommend this wonderful garden book, (and not just because Teresa helped write it, although that's reason enough for me to buy it) but because it's a great read.

And, if you live in the Boise area you can be as lucky as I was and have Teresa sign your copy of the book! She'll be doing just that April 15, this Thursday, at the Boise Co-op, (888 W. Fort). Catch her in the morning from 11:30 to 1:00 and in the afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00.

If you can't make it to Boise then head over to her blog and buy her book there or just check out her other great posts.

Happy reading!

Thanks for sharing. I need her book to help me decide what to do with all of my new veggies that I am growing. I'll go right over and check out her blog. Carla

Kim and Victoria: Thanks so much for this lovely story. You are such a dear!

That asparagus tart looks delicious, by the way. What time is dinner? Seriously, I'm really looking forward to seeing you over at the Boise Co-op on Tax Day. All the best, Teresa
