Shafer Butte

Kim and I decided to take a walk along Shafer Butte yesterday. Shafer Butte, which includes the Bogus Basin Ski Resort is about a 45 minute drive (16 miles of winding road) from downtown Boise.
It had been years since we had done this simple 2 mile hike and we had forgotten about the parking fee.

We'd also forgotten our wallets.

Luckily Kim asked the host and was told there is no penalty for not paying, no fine or ticketing involved. So, vowing to pay extra next time, we set off on our hike.

At an elevation of 6,600 ft fall has definitely arrived. The colors of the day were red and yellow.

It's a great hike; some uphill involved but not too strenuous and includes some gorgeous views.

Chelsea has always been smart enough to locate a little piece of shade while she waits for us to catch up.

And a short video of driving through Boise.

Parked cars and city trees...you know I had to fast forward past that.
Great pictures as usual.
Looks so serene. Sure isn't NJ.

What a wonderful hiking adventure. I keep meaning to go for a walk through the woods, but there's always so much to do that I never seem to get around to it.

Great pictures, like always! Really nice of the host to let you visit without paying this time. I'm sure you can't find something like this very often.
