Happy Birthday Vanessa!

My daughter is 23 years old! Unbelievable! Was she just the cutest?

Vanessa, about 2 years old, with her favorite Teddy Bear, given to her by Grandma Barb who just happens to share the same birthday. (Happy Birthday, Barb!)

Vanessa, as the older child, was always the mature one who never did anything wrong and always tried her best to be the "good girl."

She was one sweet girl, that's for sure. I always encouraged her to play with trucks and "boy toys", but she loved her dolls. From a very young age Vanessa chose her "outfits" very carefully, and was a fanatic that her hair look just right. Ahhhhhh, the media. I remember once picking her up from daycare. The workers assumed I had run out of hairbands because Vanessa had one ponytail on one side of her head, and the other side nicely left down. They realized how wrong they were when they tried to make a matching ponytail on the other side of her head.

Here we are on vacation in Disneyland....

and in Canada....

In High School Vanessa hung around with the "preppie" kids, which probably helped keep her out of any really bad trouble. She knew she wanted to attend college after high school, her only problem was deciding what her major would be.

Vanessa spent 10 days with us in Italy and France last year. What a great time that was; even when she disappeared for hours with two Italian strangers! (No, we'll never forget that!)

Vanessa and her roommate and friend, Aubrey, at our house for her birthday dinner...

My daughter is one great woman now. She'll soon graduate from college and move on to a great career as a CPA or some such. Being a parent is the most difficult job, ever. At least for me. But, now, with such a great daughter, with whom I can share so many things, it's all worth it.
