Birds and a Walk

This week Kim and I took Chelsea on a walk along the Boise river. Snowy, icy, cold and beautiful.

There is one area that always has swans.

I'm not sure how the swans are enticed into staying around.

Perhaps the other birds tell the story.

As you can see there was a lot of activity on the other side.

You can just make out what that swan is up to.

There's a bird feeder full of food.
I guess that would keep me around too.

And some birds on our feeder recently.

What a great place for a walk!

Lucky birds being so well-fed this winter.

Have a great weekend!

Nice photos of the river and swans. The swans are likely not native and live they because they have no where else to go in their minds.

Great pictures. It is hard to get pictures of running water. I love the swans. I don't think that we have any around here. Carla

Love the swans. I believe the swans in our area stick around during the winter too. They must be crazy!

Water! I think water makes all the difference! Plus birds, beautiful birds!

great photos! that last bird is so beautiful. about the swans, like randy said--they aren't native, they're actually mute swans (an introduced species often classified as invasive.) i think the scotts bought and planted them there as a decoration, back when they used to live at eagle's perch (the massive mcmansion compound backing up to that part of the creek.) they sure are gorgeous creatures though. i risked swan attack to shoot photos of their fluffy little cygnets last spring.

K and V, incredible markings on the birds... I can't seem to get enough of them. And those first two photos of the water are pretty special captures.

Outstanding photos of the finches on your thistle sock!!!
Swans must be pretty hardy? We see them outdoors here (at the zoo) all winter. I think the odds of sticking around are greatly increased by that nice person feeding them! Looks like a great place for a walk.

I love walking near water areas, even when it's bitter cold. There is always something interesting to see. Coming back inside is therefore much nicer as well:)
