Baking, baking, baking

Vanessa and Chris came over for dinner this past week. Kim and I had rearranged the dining room a bit and added/changed some photos.
I like how it ended up.

Call me "Martha" but I had to try these cupcakes from the February issue of her magazine for our dessert.
Here's the pic from the magazine:

Here's what I ended up with:

Not bad.

They were a little tricky to cut and a challenge to dig into but it's nice to try something different.

I also made some sugar cookies and decided to go with a Valentine's Day theme. Yes, it's early but so what?

I took a platter of them to my knitting group.

I made the little filigree chocolate hearts with instructions from Martha also. Easy as pie. (click on the instructions to enlarge.)

And since it's coming up to yurt time I had to make Chelsea some homemade dog biscuits. She can't be expected to hike all that way and then eat plain ol' dog food!

Chelsea will soon be looking like this, happily stomping through the snow:

I can't wait!

I saw those cupcakes in the magazine and thought they looked like something way beyond my baking skills. You obviously know how to cook! :)
I love the cozy feel your dining room has to it. It's fun rearranging inside this time of year.

Those look yummy! I refuse to use food coloring, so I would have had to color with raspberry or blackberry juice. I would love to have some of those right now!

You have been one busy lady! All of your baking endeavors look absolutely yummy! Doyle and I have been dieting for 6 weeks now and both of us salivate at the array of pretty food we can't (shouldn't) eat right now. Those cupcakes are beautiful~

Good for you Victoria. I always see these things in magazines that I want to try then I never do it. I saw those chocolate filigrees and thought they looked quick & easy but have I tried it?! No. Everything you made looks wonderful. Hope you have a good Valentines day!
