Congrats to the girls! For many years we bought all of our eggs at the local egg farm (before they closed) and company just loved having breakfast with us. I think I've probably told you I had a pet rooster when I was young. Since then I've always thought what a strange pet that was and why? But the more I see chicken pictures here and stayed at my sisters and watched hers and took pictures I see why. They are just neat and have great personalities if ya take the time to get to know them! LOL Great pictures you got!
Awww... they grew up so fast! I have ejoyed each and every post about them. I am going to probably say something really stupid..BUT... Do you eat the eggs or hatch them? Or do you need a rooster for that? When it comes to chickens, I am extremely un"egg"ucated. heh! Couldn't resist!
That's fabulous!! Rock on, sistah chickies! By the way Cher, no rooster is needed for good egg production. Just need one for security patrol if needed, and for making fertile eggs for hatching. Sorry roosters. As the saying goes, "The rooster may crow but the hen delivers the goods!!" Your birds are gorgeous.
I remember my first egg. I carried it around and stared at it a full 10 minutes...called everyone I knew until I called my brother who said, "Well, what did you think was going to happen when you got chickens!" lol Congratulations!
Hi! Beautiful girls! I suspect that the Barred Rock laid that little beauty... she looks very much "ready!" and very much like my two, that have just started laying! Congrats!

Yeah for an egg :) They're not only cute, but earn their keep as well.
Congratulations! I'm betting that's one expensive egg! Hope it's well enjoyed.
