Whoops, we did it again.

On Saturday Vanessa and I ran the Famous Idaho Potato Half Marathon. How do I get myself talked into these things? Well, I'm not exactly sure. It sounds like a nice challenge, and I get to spend time with my daughter, and I need the exercise. (Although it's always a bit too, too, much exercise. Vanessa and I have new blisters to show for it.)

Anyway, the race started at Discovery Park. I should say Discovery freakin' COLD park. It was just 50 degrees, with a stiff breeze and we were freezing. The rest of our "team" (cheaper entry fees for having a team), helped take our minds off the cold with their antics.

There were about 1900 entrants for the races; full marathon, half marathon, 5K and 10K.

Once the race got started we warmed up quickly enough. Some of the race was along the Boise river providing some great scenery.

It was a long 13.1 miles and we were so glad to be finished.

We were also very grateful to have Kim there to give us a much needed ride home, for a bath and a nap.

The great T-shirts we received were worth the effort!

Man oh man you are one motivated lady! I am so sore just from planting my garden! You'd have to hospitalize me if I tried to run in a race. I am impressed and maybe the littlest bit motivated too!

I need to get off my fat bum and run!!!!!!!! I was watching (well the hunter was watching) ESPN about this man in Miami that has ran 8 miles everyday since 1975!! Over 100,000 miles! Insane.....and I can't even run 1...pitiful, pitiful and I am ashamed and disgusted with myself. You inspire me. Your daughter is beautiful. Ya'll could be twins!!

Wow you go girl(s)!!! Doesn't it feel good to have done the race. Congrats. I used to get so pumped up when I finished a race I was on cloud nine. I got a buzz from racewalking. Did you run or racewalk? Beautiful place for a race. Along the river. Nice. Becca

Great job... again! I am just now wishing I had some of your energy. I am still recovering from the pleurisy, so life is moving rather slowly and I am way behind in the garden.

Congrats again Victoria for accomplishing what would be a very daunting goal for me!! Maybe if I could walk it?? It's so great you're game for these events and it's a great bonding experience with your daughter I'm sure. It's just a huge workout! Do you run all year just to stay in shape for them??

Good for you! I say, the more foolish the idea, the more fun you'll have - and you got a T-shirt too - wear it with pride. Looks like a really good race route - lots to look at to take the mind away from the pain. Congratulations.

It was extra fun reading this post because my daughter-in-law ran her first half marathon last Sunday morning in Green Bay, WI. It was COLD, too. They started and ended inside Lambeau Field. 10,000 runners! Your photo of the Boise River is beautiful. Nice that you have such a good mother/daughter relationship.

Congrats on all your training and, as a result, having the stamina for these races. Awesome!
