Hello Out There, From Our Garden

I've been doing what most gardeners are doing this time of year....gardening. And gardening, and gardening. It's late spring and there is so much to be done. Veggie seedlings to put out, flower seedlings to pot up, weeds to be pulled, decisions to be made about the multitude of projects we might want/afford to do this year. And all to be done in my two measly days off a week.

Feels like we're finally getting a handle on things. At least some things. Kim still needs to build the chicken coop. He has the supplies, he just needs to start pounding some nails. (At least that's how I see it.) The veggie garden expansion is complete and planted. (A nice surprise from Kim.) He has also moved the stepping stones out from behind the filter house and replaced them with gravel. And Kim has been weeding his little heart out on his days off.

I've been potting up my flower seedlings and weeding/pruning/touching up the garden on my days off.

We purchased a sock finch feeder (I think it was on KeeWee's advice.) And the finches have been eating like crazy just outside the back door. They've been very entertaining.

Kim did take some time to shoot a few photos of the garden........

On my way home from work I pass this pretty sight. It's just a block from work. What great usage of a hellstrip, huh? (We have some cactus in our garden and I'll post some pictures when they bloom.)
But I thought this was so attractive.

I hope everyone has been having a great spring. I'll try to catch up on my blog reading this week.

Such great photos, Victoria! The garden shot with the poppies is simply breathtaking! (And I love cacti, so I was thrilled to see those as well.) You and Kim have obviously been doing a great job!

Lovely scenes...I especially like the Poppies with the flowers in the background. I see you have a yellow lupine....They seem to be so elusive for me, I always end up with blue or pink when I plant mixed seed. I even planted some seed of heirloom Yellow Areus lupine last year, but I'm not sure if came up this year. If it did, it's lost under the other perennials,ha.

Your garden is looking great and the birds are sweet!

Victoria- your photos are beautiful! I know what you mean about busy beyond belief. Us too! The chicken house is almost done and I am so ready to move onto another project. This one is making me tired! Your yard looks beautiful if the flowers are any indication. I am still waiting for most of my blooms.

Your pictures are amazing! It sounds like you've both been busy. Now I think I need to get a thistle sock, I do remember seeing it on someone's blog recently.

That cactus bed is gorgeous. I hope to have something half as lovely in my cactus patch someday. And I love those bird shots. Great job.

All your hard work is paying off Victoria ~ your garden is really, really pretty. You are a little ahead of us ~ my peonies are not open yet but my first poppy opened today. It always seems like there's so much to do this time of year yet I hate to not blog because that means there's a lot to blog about too! funny, huh? I purchased one of those thistle socks recently too and have had a lot of luck with it. Enjoy your garden.

I'm always envious when I see pics of other peoples gardens. I'm just busy on figuring out whats what and deciding how to bring back rotting flower beds from total decay.
You're well manicured flower beds are dreamy :)

Great photos...I must get a better camera! Love the poppies. We found out that our next door neighbors call us the 'mole people' because we are always digging something. I take that as a compliment when we compare our garden to their's!

WOW! Things are looking so great over there! We've been getting lots of finches, too. We've never had so many before.

Cactus has been blooming here as well, it's the only time of year I appreciate cactus. Gorgeous shots of the garden blooms, as always! Really really stunning.
